Agartala, July 5: In a significant step towards strengthening security preparedness, a multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise was successfully carried out at the Secretariat complex in Agartala on the evening of July 4, 2025. The drill aimed at enhancing interoperability and rapid response capabilities among various security forces.
The exercise involved coordinated participation from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Tripura Police Dog Squad, and the Bomb Disposal Unit. Demonstrating precise teamwork and operational synergy, the joint forces swiftly cordoned off the Secretariat premises and executed detailed room clearance operations in response to a simulated terror threat.
One of the major highlights of the drill was the successful simulation of a hostage rescue operation from within the Secretariat building, followed by extensive explosive detection and neutralisation efforts. The Dog Squad and Bomb Squad played a crucial role in ensuring the area was secure, highlighting the importance of specialised units in complex threat scenarios.
This high-intensity exercise served to assess the preparedness of Tripura’s security agencies in dealing with potential terror strikes on critical infrastructure. Officials present during the operation lauded the effectiveness and coordination demonstrated by the participating forces.
Such joint drills are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that government institutions remain resilient against emerging threats. They also provide an opportunity for forces to test and refine their standard operating procedures in a real-time, controlled environment.
The success of the exercise reinforces Tripura’s commitment to public safety and proactive crisis response planning, ensuring that its security forces remain equipped and ready to handle any emergency with speed and efficiency.
