Agartala, June 24:Shri Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, IPS, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Eastern Command, BSF (Kolkata), arrived in Tripura on Tuesday for a four-day official visit to review the operational preparedness and strategic functioning of the Border Security Force in the state.
Upon his arrival at the Agartala Airport, ADG Aggarwal was warmly received by Shri Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Inspector General (IG), BSF Tripura Frontier. He was later accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the BSF Headquarters in Salbagan.
During his visit to the Frontier HQ, the ADG was briefed by IG Sharma on various operational challenges, key security strategies, and measures undertaken to enhance border management along the India-Bangladesh international boundary in Tripura. The briefing covered coordination efforts, anti-smuggling operations, intelligence sharing, and infrastructure development to secure the sensitive border region.
As part of his field inspection, ADG Aggarwal visited several critical border outposts (BOPs) including BOP Bhagalpur, BOP Lankamura, and the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Agartala. At each location, he reviewed the on-ground preparedness, border surveillance systems, and infrastructure. He interacted directly with field commanders and jawans to assess their operational readiness and morale.
ADG Aggarwal appreciated the efforts of the BSF personnel in maintaining a high level of vigilance and professionalism in a challenging border environment. He emphasized the importance of seamless coordination, use of technology, and continuous training to counter trans-border threats and smuggling activities.
The visit reflects BSF Eastern Command’s commitment to strengthening border security and addressing region-specific challenges in Tripura. Further meetings and operational reviews are scheduled over the next three days as part of the ADG’s itinerary.
