Agartala, June 23: A vibrant and enthusiastic rally marked the celebration of International Olympic Day 2025 in Agartala on Monday, as hundreds of sportspersons, students, and sports enthusiasts took to the streets to promote the Olympic spirit and encourage youth to embrace sports.
Organised by the Tripura Olympic Association, the rally was flagged off by Tripura Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy in the presence of renowned Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, her coach and Dronacharya Awardee Bishweshwar Nandi, and representatives from various sports associations and clubs.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Roy said, “This day is a tribute to our athletes and a reminder for our youth to stay committed to sports. The state government is continuously investing in infrastructure and support systems so that more athletes from Tripura can represent India in future Olympic Games.”
The rally went through the streets of Agartala, drawing attention from onlookers and spreading awareness about the importance of fitness and sports in everyday life. The event also served to highlight the global values of the Olympics—friendship, excellence, and respect—while uniting people across age, gender, and community.
Athletes participating in the rally praised the improving sports infrastructure in the state and emphasised that future success would depend on individual dedication, discipline, and teamwork alongside quality coaching.

The global celebration aims to inspire people to get active and lead healthier lives, while also educating them about Olympic values and the importance of sport in fostering unity and public welfare.
