Agartala, June 19: The long-dormant investigation into the murder of Shariful Hossain, a youth from South Indranagar, has taken a significant turn as Tripura Police uncovered crucial evidence from a shop in Gandacherra. A refrigerator, allegedly used to conceal Shariful’s body, has been seized from the premises. Investigators have also retrieved CCTV footage that could become a pivotal part of the case.
According to sources, the footage clearly shows Deepak Saha and Devika Saha — the parents of main accused Dibakar Saha — carrying a bag containing the victim’s body into the shop. Deepak Saha is also seen driving the vehicle used in transporting the body. These visuals directly implicate Dibakar’s parents in the crime, suggesting their active involvement in the cover-up.
Adding to the mystery, police recovered suspicious materials from a hidden room behind the shop, raising strong suspicions of illegal activities being run under the guise of a betel shop. The recovered refrigerator is now being treated as scientific evidence by forensic experts.
Despite the recent breakthroughs, the exact “modus operandi” of the crime remains unclear. Legal experts suggest that while new findings have shed light on the crime’s aftermath, the motive and the complete sequence of events still need thorough and unbiased investigation.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised about the police’s initial handling of the case, with criticism over delays and lapses in securing evidence. Some legal professionals warn that without meticulous investigation and protection of critical evidence, there is a risk that the accused could escape justice.
As the investigation continues, the public and legal fraternity alike await to see whether the truth behind this sensational murder will finally be unveiled, or if it will join the list of unresolved criminal cases due to evidentiary shortcomings.
