Agartala: June 04: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has marked a historic milestone by successfully concluding its first-ever cultural tour of the United Kingdom, bringing the rich and vibrant heritage of the indigenous TIPRAsa community to international platforms. The tour included high-profile appearances at India Week and Bournemouth University, highlighting Tripura’s unique cultural identity to a global audience.
Led by Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya DebBarma, Chairman of the AARC, TTAADC, the delegation engaged in strategic meetings, signed key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and built strong international partnerships in the sectors of culture, education, skill development, and sports.
At a session hosted by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bubagra Pradyot Bikram passionately spoke about the Northeast’s crucial role in shaping India’s national identity. “The Northeast is not just a strategic part of India; it is an integral part of India. Anyone visiting India must visit the Northeast, and Tripura in particular, which has its own unique cuisine, culture, language, and traditions. We are proud to showcase our heritage and invite the world to partner with us in building a brighter future.”
• Regis Academy of Leadership and Skills, UK, which signed an MoU to provide subsidised skill development training for TIPRAsa youth, aimed at improving education and employment opportunities in the TTAADC region.
• ReelN, a UK-based cultural media firm, agreed to promote Tripura’s indigenous art, cinema, and cultural expressions across the UK, helping local talent reach global platforms.
• Bournemouth University expressed keen interest in establishing cultural and academic exchanges, including joint research, curriculum collaboration, and student mobility programmes.
Audiences at every stop were deeply impressed by the TIPRAsa cultural performances and exhibits, with many expressing interest in visiting Tripura to experience its heritage firsthand.
This landmark initiative has positioned Tripura’s indigenous voice on a global stage and opened new avenues for international cooperation in culture, education, and sustainable development.
