Agartala, May 31: Panic gripped Nandan Nagar Bardhan Para on Saturday morning after the bloodied body of an elderly woman was found in a jungle area near her residence. The deceased has been identified as Malati Rudrapal, a resident of the locality.
According to her family, Malati had gone out for her regular morning walk, as she did every day. When she failed to return home at her usual time, the family grew concerned and began searching for her in the surrounding areas. Their worst fears were confirmed when they found her lying motionless and bloodied in a jungle beside the roadside.
Family members immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene shortly after being informed. The police recovered the body and sent it to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The family also reported that her gold jewelry, including earrings and a neck chain, was missing. This has raised suspicions of foul play and possible robbery as a motive behind the death. Her bangles also appeared to have been tampered with.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing concern over the safety of elderly citizens.
