Agartala, June 2: Minister for Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD) and Fishery, Sudhangshu Das, conducted a surprise inspection at the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry in R.K. Nagar on Sunday. He was accompanied by local MLA Ratan Chakraborty, ARDD Director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, and other departmental officials.
During the visit, Minister Das reviewed the functioning of the veterinary hospital attached to the college and interacted with the staff. Speaking to reporters, he stressed the critical role of the institution in delivering timely and effective healthcare to livestock and pets.
“This hospital serves thousands of people who bring animals like cows, goats, and dogs for treatment. It is essential that the doctors and staff ensure full support and quality care to farmers and pet owners,” Das said.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s overall functioning but noted that a few issues needed immediate attention. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to resolve them promptly.
Highlighting the importance of modern infrastructure, Das emphasized the need for updated medical equipment to enhance service delivery. He directed the hospital authorities to submit a proposal to the department for acquiring modern tools and machinery.
The visit was aimed at ensuring accountability and encouraging improvements in veterinary care. Officials accompanying the minister took note of the suggestions and assured follow-up action.
The inspection underlined the state government’s commitment to strengthening animal healthcare services in Tripura through regular monitoring and infrastructure upgrades.
