Agartala, May 29: Workers under Vision Plus, a subsidiary of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), submitted a deputation to the Director of the Electricity Board on Wednesday, demanding immediate action on four key issues, including payment of pending salaries and abolition of the outsourcing system.
Around 600 employees have been working under Vision Plus for the past five years in various roles. Despite promises of annual salary increments, workers claim that their wages have remained stagnant, making it difficult to sustain their livelihoods. To worsen the situation, they allege they have not received salaries for the past six months.
“When we approached company officials about our dues, we were told the electricity department itself had not released the funds,” said one of the workers. With no resolution in sight, they were compelled to take their concerns directly to the department through a formal deputation.
Their major demands include:
1. Immediate payment of all pending salaries
2. End to the outsourcing system and implementation of direct recruitment
3. Inclusion under labor laws to ensure consistent salary and job benefits
4. Job regularization for existing employees under the department
The protesting workers emphasized that this is not just a financial crisis but a matter of dignity and long-term employment stability. They urged the state government and electricity department to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest.
The situation reflects the growing discontent among contract workers in public utilities and raises questions about outsourcing practices in essential services.
