Agartala, May 26: West Agartala police have successfully apprehended a member of a mobile lifting gang identified as Rahul Dutta and recovered 10 mobile phones along with Rs 3,000 in connection with a theft case.
The incident occurred on the night of May 15, when a group of unidentified individuals broke into the Unity Gastro and Liver Hospital in Krishnanagar and stole the donation box.
Following the incident a complaint filed by the hospital manager, Prosenjit Majumder, a case was registered at West Agartala Police Station under case number No-2025WAG053 dated 25/05/2025, under sections 305/331(4)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Deba Prasad Roy, SDPO Sadar subdivision addressing the media on Monday said that a special investigation team was formed, and after analyzing CCTV footage, police were able to identify and arrest the accused, Rahul Dutta, from his residence in Nandan Nagar.
He added uring interrogation, police recovered 10 mobile phones and Rs 3,000 believed to have been stolen from the donation box as further investigation is on to arrest his other gang members and the accused will be produced before the court today.
