Agartala: May 25: Minister Bikash Debbarma participated in an open discussion held at Chinta Kumar Mausumpara in Dakshin Gokulnagar ADC village, where he highlighted the real state of agricultural development and public grievances. This initiative, led by the 29 Krishna Nagar Legislative Assembly, turned into a public hearing due to the active and vocal participation of local farmers and residents.
Citizens raised various long-standing issues, with the problem of uncultivated agricultural land being one of the most pressing. After the meeting, Minister Debbarma conducted an on-site visit and observed many farmlands lying fallow. In conversations with farmers, it was revealed that financial hardship and the lack of government support were the primary obstacles preventing cultivation.
Taking the matter seriously, the minister assured that the state government would soon launch a special financial package and provide necessary assistance to support agricultural activities. “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. Leaving farmland unused leads to collective economic loss. We are actively working toward a permanent solution to this issue,” he stated.
Other vital concerns raised during the discussion included poor infrastructure, weaknesses in the education system, drinking water shortages, deteriorating roads, complications in old-age and widow pensions, and unemployment. Minister Debbarma listened attentively to each issue and assured that the concerned departments would be informed promptly to take appropriate action.
He further added, “I am not just a minister; I am your companion. Speak to me—I am listening, I am here. Together, we will strive for the development and self-reliance of this region.”
The open forum and the minister’s direct field visit demonstrated the current government’s commitment to grassroots engagement. His sincere interaction and assurances brought a renewed sense of hope among the local people, who now look forward to meaningful change.
