Agartala: May 25: Agartala came alive with energy and enthusiasm on Sunday morning as around 120 cyclists took to the streets for the “Sundays on Cycle” rally. The event, held under the FIT India Movement and Khelo India initiatives, was aimed at promoting fitness, sustainable transport, and environmental awareness.
The rally was ceremoniously flagged off from the historic Ujjayanta Palace by Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, who not only graced the event as the Chief Guest but also actively participated in the ride. His involvement added a special touch to the occasion, inspiring participants and onlookers alike.
The event was organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Regional Centre, Kolkata, with robust support from the Government of Tripura. Key dignitaries present included Tinku Roy, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports; S.B. Nath, Director of Youth Affairs & Sports; and Amar Jyoti, Regional Director I/C, SAI.
A standout presence at the rally was Gopesh Debnath, the Bicycle Mayor of Agartala, along with his team from the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation. Their efforts played a crucial role in mobilizing the city’s cycling community and encouraging widespread participation.
Governor Indrasena Reddy, in his address, praised the initiative, stating, “This effort not only promotes an active lifestyle but also strengthens the spirit of togetherness and highlights Agartala’s commitment to sustainability and fitness-driven community development.”
As cyclists pedaled through the city’s streets, the event resonated as more than just a ride—it was a collective movement toward a healthier, greener, and more connected Agartala, leaving behind a powerful message of wellness and unity for all.
