Agartala, May 24:
In a tragic and shocking incident, the body of an 18-year-old youth was found hanging early Friday morning in the Kholabari area under Bamutiya Police Outpost in West Tripura district. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Reportedly local residents were the first to spot the hanging body and promptly alerted the authorities. Officer-in-Charge of Bamutiya Police Outpost, Anthony Jamatia, along with a police team, rushed to the scene and began an investigation.
Local BJP leader and social worker Shibendra Das, along with Panchayat Pradhan Nikhilesh Dutta, also arrived at the site. With their cooperation, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Mohanpur Social Health Centre for post-mortem examination.
Speaking to the media, Shibendra Das shared a heartbreaking detail — the youth’s father had also died by hanging several years ago, and the boy’s mother is reportedly bedridden and mentally unstable.
The grim circumstances surrounding the family have deepened the community’s grief over the incident.
Meantime, Malina, a family member of the deceased youth said that someone called him and he had reportedly left home after having dinner at around 11 PM on Thursday night.
Investigators are now probing whether he was called out by someone and are exploring all angles, including suicide and possible foul play. The investigation is ongoing.
