Agartala, May 17: Candidates of the Tripura Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) 2024-25 launched a protest on Saturday, raising serious allegations regarding errors in this year’s examination and presenting five key demands. The aggrieved candidates gathered outside the Education Bhavan in Agartala and staged demonstrations, seeking immediate redressal.
Despite heavy police presence and the closure of the main entrance to the Education Bhavan, a delegation of five protestors was later allowed to meet with Dr. Pratyush Ranjan Deb, Chairman of the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT).
The protesting examinees claimed that the TET question paper for this year contained numerous issues, including several questions that were outside the prescribed syllabus. They further alleged that the papers were riddled with spelling errors, creating confusion and stress during the examination. More critically, the students pointed to discrepancies between the question paper and the officially released answer key, casting doubts on the accuracy and transparency of the evaluation process.
Among their five demands, the candidates called for a direct meeting with subject experts of TET-1 and TET-2 to review the errors and inconsistencies. They also urged TRBT to introduce stricter checks in the preparation and moderation process of question papers to prevent such lapses in the future.
The delegation submitted a memorandum listing their grievances and demands to the TRBT chairman. Following the meeting, the protestors reported that they were assured prompt action and a fair review of the issues raised.
However, the candidates have warned that if their demands are not addressed within a reasonable timeframe, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days. The issue has sparked concern among aspirants across the state, who are demanding accountability and fairness in the teacher recruitment process.
