Agartala, May 15: Marking the completion of three years as the Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday highlighted the progress his government has made across multiple sectors, including health, education, agriculture, power and others. While acknowledging that certain areas still face challenges, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ongoing development and by maintaining transparency.
Speaking to reporters at the valedictory session of the “Induction Training for Tripura Civil Service 2024 Batch” at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said, “The government is working towards improving in priority sectors like health, education, and sports. In all sectors, the government is doing well and the public is happy, that’s what I can say.”
Reflecting on his three-year journey, Saha said that time has flown by quickly due to the intense focus on governance and development. “I was telling my officials how quickly these three years have passed. We were all so deeply engaged in our responsibilities that it hardly felt like three years,” he said.
Dr. Saha claimed that if a comprehensive account of his government’s work over the past three years were documented, it would make for an extensive story. “There’s no end to the work. In the coming days, we aim to fulfill more basic demands of the people through transparency. The credit for our success goes to the public—they are our source of inspiration and have shown unwavering confidence in the Prime Minister,” he added.
Notably, Dr. Saha was appointed as the 11th Chief Minister on May 15, 2022, replacing Biplab Kumar Deb during the latter’s fourth year in office following the BJP-IPFT alliance’s rise to power in 2018 removing the 25 years CPIM led Left Front government.
Saha, who was then the state BJP president, later won a by-election and began his second term as Chief Minister in March 2023 after the BJP’s return to power for the second term.
