Agartala, May 13 – Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nathhas ordered an urgent investigation into recent power outages across the state,following concerns that intentional sabotage may be behind the disruptions. Addressing the issue, he emphasized that Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) and the power department are working to identify the cause and take necessary action.
According to TSECL, several areas in Agartala experienced simultaneous power failures late Monday night, despite main transmission lines remaining intact. Investigations uncovered instances where transformer components were deliberately tampered with or cutouts removed, leading to localized outages.
Authorities are analyzing CCTV footagefrom Kamarpukur Para, which reportedly shows an individual interfering with electrical infrastructure. In response, TSECL filed an FIR at East Police Station, and law enforcement officials have assured full cooperation in the probe.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath reiterated that there is no shortage in power generation or supply and that scheduled maintenance outages are always pre-announced. He urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as unlawful disruptions could pose security risks.
The state government has affirmed its commitment to ensuring a reliable power supply, with investigations ongoing to identify those responsibleand prevent further disturbances.
