Agartala, May 11: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday said that the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan is acceptable as such developments happen depending on circumstances, but emphasized that the fight against terrorism will continue.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a blood donation camp organized at the Art of Living office in Agartala on the occasion of Mother’s Day, ahead of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s 69th birthday celebrations, Dr. Saha said, “It is okay. Ceasefires happen everywhere, depending on the situation. Internationally, India has to decide it.”
However, he made it clear that while a declaration has been made for ceasefire, it does not mean India will let its guard down. “The fight against terrorism will go on,” he asserted.
Reacting to reports of continued ceasefire violations by Pakistan despite the declaration, Dr. Saha said the matter has come to his notice. “Yes, I have also noticed it but ultimately they have withdraw. Let’s wait and see what they do in the future,” he added.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid renewed questions over the effectiveness of the ceasefire amid reports of cross-border firing from Pakistan.!
