Agartala, May 8:
Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Thursday strongly endorsed India’s stand against Pakistan amid rising tensions, lauding the Centre’s decisive response and commending opposition parties for uniting in support of national interests.
In a social media message, Debbarma appreciated the “befitting reply” given to hostile forces attempting to threaten India’s unity and territorial integrity. He stressed that such moments demand national unity and praised all political parties for standing behind the government.
He also issued a stern warning to Bangladesh, remarking, “Father will always be father and son as son,” suggesting that Bangladesh must remember its historical ties with India.
Debbarma alleged that in the past year, a section in Bangladesh had shown support for anti-India activities and Pakistan, seemingly forgetting the atrocities committed by the Pakistani army during the 1971 Liberation War.
“Only 50 years ago, this very Pakistani army raped lakhs of their mothers and sisters. It was India that gave them liberation,” he stated, urging India to adopt a firm stance against all neighbouring nations that attempt to provoke or destabilise it.
Debbarma also defended Indian Muslims, stating that they are not aligned with Pakistan and should not be suspected due to the provocations by external forces trying to sow discord among Indian communities.
He emphasised the importance of unity and communal harmony in times of external threats.
