Agartala, May 3: The Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of the ruling BJP alliance partner Tipra Motha party, marked its fourth foundation day on Saturday evening with a massive torch rally in the Takarjala Assembly constituency of Sepahijala district, reaffirming its core demand for the creation of ‘Greater Tipraland’.
Led by YTF president Suraj Debbarma, the rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of members, including local MLA Biswajit Kalai.
As torches lit up the streets of Takarjala market, Suraj Debbarma speaking to reporters, asserting that the flames symbolized the unstoppable spirit and growing influence of the YTF across Tripura.
He reiterated that under the leadership of Tipra Motha’s founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the demand for Greater Tipraland — envisioned as a unified homeland for the indigenous Tiprasa people — remains the only viable path toward the socio-political empowerment and lasting development of the tribal community.
“The fire we carry reflects the fire within our heart, mind and blood. The dream of Greater Tipraland is not just a political slogan but a permanent solution for the future of our people,” said Suraj Debbarma.
The YTF has recently taken a more visible role in political activism. Just days ago, the organization staged a protest at the India-Bangladesh border in Belonia subdivision of South Tripura, opposing the construction of an embankment by Bangladesh along the zero line. During the protest, slogans were raised against Mohammad Yunus, chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, over his controversial remarks describing Northeast India as landlocked and suggesting increased Chinese investment in Bangladesh.
With growing momentum and mobilization, the YTF is fast emerging as a key force in rallying indigenous youth around the Greater Tipraland movement, intensifying the demand that continues to shape the political discourse in Tripura.
