Agartala: April 30: Retired Justice Arindam Lodh, formerly a judge of the Tripura High Court, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission. The appointment was formally made by Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
According to the official notification issued by the state government, Justice Lodh’s appointment falls under Section 22, Sub-section (1) of the Act. His tenure will span three years or continue until he reaches the age of 70, whichever comes earlier. This appointment marks a significant addition to the state’s human rights framework, as the Commission plays a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting human rights across Tripura.
Justice Arindam Lodh retired from the Tripura High Court in 2023 and is known for his balanced and legally sound judgments. His extensive experience in the judiciary is expected to bring integrity, diligence, and a strong legal perspective to the Commission’s functioning.
