Agartala: April 29: The Pradesh Congress has launched the ‘Save the Constitution Campaign,’ organizing statewide protests from April 27 to April 30. As part of this initiative, a rally was held today in Agartala, starting in front of the Press Club and winding through city streets before concluding at Netaji Chowmuhani.
The rally witnessed participation from senior Congress leaders and a large number of party workers and supporters. Sudip Roy Barman, a key leader of the Pradesh Congress, played a pivotal role in maintaining order during the rally. He urged participants to remain disciplined and committed to the movement’s objectives.
Tensions flared during a demonstration near the Income Tax building at Netaji Chowmuhani. Protesters attempted to breach police barricades, leading to clashes between Congress workers and law enforcement. To control the situation, the police resorted to using force.
Congress leaders have accused the current government of undermining democratic principles and the Constitution. They claim the protests are a direct response to these alleged actions. The Pradesh Congress has warned that the intensity of the movement will escalate in the coming days, signaling a continued push for their demands.
The campaign has drawn attention to concerns over governance and constitutional integrity, with Congress leaders emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democratic values. The protests have also highlighted the growing tensions between the opposition and the ruling government in the state.
