Agartala: April 29: Acting on a confidential tip-off, the Government Railway Police (GRP), with assistance from the Border Security Force (BSF), apprehended a suspect identified as Zakir Hossain, a resident of Sonamura Dhanpur. GRP station officer-in-charge Tapas Das disclosed this development during a press briefing.
Authorities had been pursuing Hossain for some time on allegations of facilitating the entry of foreign nationals into the state and assisting them in traveling to other parts of India via Agartala railway station. Based on the intelligence gathered, the operation was carried out in the specified area leading to his arrest.
The accused is set to be presented in court, where the police will seek his remand to advance the investigation.
