Agartala: April 28: Tensions have risen in Udaipur following controversial remarks made on social media by Javed Hossain about the Mata Tripureshwari Temple, one of the 51 Peeths. The comments have sparked outrage among residents of the state and across the nation. Despite a complaint filed by the Hindu Jagaran Manch at Radha Kishorepur police station on Saturday, the accused has not been arrested, leading to public frustration.
On Monday morning, members of the Hindu community staged a protest by blocking the main national highway at Netaji Subhash Bridge, which connects Udaipur, Sakram, and Agartala. The blockade caused significant disruption, leaving hundreds of vehicles and commuters stranded. Authorities, including the Udaipur sub-divisional magistrate, sub-divisional police officer, Radha Kishorepur police station officer-in-charge, central forces, Tripura police, and TSR, arrived at the scene to address the situation.
Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of Javed Hossain and submitted a written demand to the police, setting a ten-day deadline for action. A spokesperson emphasized the urgency of the matter, calling for swift police intervention to resolve the issue. The incident has highlighted growing concerns over social media conduct and its impact on communal harmony.
