Agartala, April 25: The Tripura unit of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday staged a massive protest rally in Agartala condemning the brutal killing of 28 tourists by insurgents in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22.
The rally witnessed protesters chanting anti-Pakistan and anti-Jihadi slogans as they marched through the streets of the capital city.
The rally commenced from the Umamehaswari temple area and proceeded through major parts of the city, culminating at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan area.
Protesters carried banners, flags and placards demanding strict action against the perpetrators of the heinous act and their handlers.
Speaking to reporters the VHP leaders emphasized that the entire nation stands united against terrorism and fundamentalist forces.
They urged the government of India to take strong and decisive action to ensure the safety of innocent civilians and prevent such attacks in the future.
The protesting VHP members also lighted candles in front of photos of those who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack.
The VHP also appealed to the Centre to resolve the issue by adopting stern measures and ensure that such tragedies do not recur.
