Agartala, April 24: Members of Sanskar Bharati, Tripura chapter, along with individuals from various cultural and artistic backgrounds, staged a silent protest on Wednesday in front of the historic Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala.
The demonstration was in response to the brutal killing of 28 tourists and injury of several others in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, by Pakistan-sponsored militants two days back.
The protestors, draped in black ribbons over their mouths, held banners and placards condemning what they described as a “cowardly act of selective killing.”
They expressed strong outrage over the incident, which they alleged was a targeted attack based on the religious identity of the victims.
“This heinous act appears to be a deliberate attempt by the neighbouring nation to destabilize the growing peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” one protester remarked. “The return of normalcy and rising tourist footfall in Kashmir has irked those who wish to see the state in unrest.”
Sanskar Bharati, a cultural organization dedicated to the promotion of Indian art, fine arts, and cultural heritage, emphasized the role of artists and cultural activists in standing against violence and advocating for peace.
The demonstrators expressed faith that the Government of India would take firm steps in response to the attack and ensure justice for the victims.
