Agartala, April 22: Tripura Youth Congress activists on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in Agartala, protesting the alleged cancellation of a recruitment process that had been pending for over two and a half years.
Led by Tripura Youth Congress state president Neel Kamal Saha and All India Youth Congress general secretary Sarifa Rehaman, the protesters raised slogans and demanded justice for the candidates who had appeared for the written examination conducted as part of the recruitment process.
The protest took place amid a significant deployment of security personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.
According to the Youth Congress leaders, the recruitment process had reached the written examination stage but was abruptly cancelled by the department without any clear justification.
They accused the state government of playing with the future of job aspirants and huge corruption in recruitment process in Tripura as they demanded immediate reversal of the decision.
The Youth Congress warned of intensifying their agitation if the government fails to address the issue huge unemployment and reinstate the recruitment process.
Later police arrested the protesters and cleared the area.
