Agartala: April 22: On the early morning of April 22, 2025, Agartala GRP (Government Railway Police) arrested five individuals accused of involvement in two separate human trafficking cases. The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted based on confidential intelligence inputs. The operation was carried out in coordination with BSF personnel, Ramnagar Outpost police, and Agartala GRP from the areas of Lankamura, Sharmalunga, and Shanmura.
According to police sources, the arrested individuals had been absconding for a long time and were finally apprehended after a well-planned search operation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. **Suman Das alias Bikash**, aged 39, resident of Shanmura near Loknath Ashram, under West Agartala Police Station, West Tripura.
2. **Rahul Das**, aged 27, resident of Shanmura near Loknath Ashram, under West Agartala Police Station, West Tripura.
3. **Biswajit Das**, aged 49, resident of Sharmalunga Daspara, near Jayanta Club, under West Agartala Police Station, West Tripura.
4. **Anibesh Sarkar**, aged 31, resident of Sharmalunga Daspara, near Jayanta Club, under West Agartala Police Station, West Tripura.
5. **Jewel Sarkar**, aged 26, resident of Lankamura Bhumihin Colony, under West Agartala Police Station, West Tripura.
Following their arrest, a special interrogation team at the Agartala GRP Police Station has begun a detailed investigation. Officials believe that more individuals involved in the human trafficking network from the area may soon be apprehended as the investigation unfolds.
The accused are scheduled to be presented before the Honourable Court later today, where police will seek remand for further custodial interrogation.
The operation marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against human trafficking networks in Tripura.
