Agartala: April 03: Ashish Kumar Saha, the President of the Pradesh Congress in Tripura, has raised serious allegations against the BJP government, accusing it of deliberately creating obstacles for minorities and attempting to incite tensions in border areas during the Eid celebrations. His remarks came during a press interaction following a key meeting of the Pradesh Congress Minority Department, which he chaired, alongside other prominent leaders like MLA Sudip Roy Barman and Minority Department President Ruhul Alam.
Saha criticized the BJP government for its handling of the Wakf Bill and announced that the Pradesh Congress would organize state-wide protests to oppose the Wakf Amendment Bill. He argued that the bill would negatively affect the interests of the minority community and that the BJP’s approach was deeply problematic. Additionally, Saha voiced strong disapproval of the government’s treatment of residents living near the barbed-wire border with Bangladesh, claiming that they were being subjected to discriminatory actions, especially in the run-up to Eid.
One of the most significant accusations from Saha was the disconnection of electricity in border areas just before Eid. He labeled this action as an act of negligence and injustice, alleging that the government was targeting these vulnerable communities during a critical time. According to Saha, these moves were part of a broader pattern of neglect towards minorities, which he described as an attempt to destabilize the peace and harmony of the region.
Through his statements, Saha underscored the Congress Party’s firm stance against the BJP government’s policies and vowed to continue fighting for the rights of minorities in Tripura, particularly in the face of what he sees as attempts to marginalize them.
