Agartala, March 31: Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Monday urged the indigenous population of Tripura to remain united, emphasizing that his party will contest the upcoming elections with strategic planning rather than emotional appeals.
He asserted that this approach would enable Tipra Motha to emerge as a decisive factor or even a kingmaker in the political landscape so that the party is capable of negotiating its demands for the development of the tribal people.
Addressing a massive gathering at Nepaltilla in Dhalai district, Debbarma launched a scathing critique of national parties, including the CPI(M), Congress, and BJP, accusing them of neglecting the development of Tripura’s tribal communities.
He argued that meaningful progress could only be achieved if the indigenous population consolidated its support behind Tipra Motha, terming the upcoming election as their “last fight.”
“Whenever funds arrive from Delhi, a major portion is utilized in Agartala, leaving the poor tribals deprived. Their conditions remain unchanged while national party leaders enjoy the benefits of development in the capital,” Debbarma stated.
He lamented that tribal communities continue to be divided along political, religious, and communal lines, preventing collective progress.
He urged his supporters to stand united, asserting that only through unity could he continue his struggle for their rights and secure tangible gains for Tripura’s indigenous people.
Debbarma’s address signaled Tipra Motha’s strategic shift ahead of the crucial Village Committee elections, highlighting the party’s ambition to play a key role in the state’s political dynamics.
