Agartala, March 31: Thousands of Muslims gathered at Gedu Mia mosque in Agartala on Monday to offer Eid ul-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The congregation, including both local residents and visitors from outside the state, prayed for global peace, communal harmony, and an end to violence.
The special Eid prayers, led by Maulana Abdul Rehaman, the chief cleric of the mosque, emphasized Islam’s message of love and brotherhood. “Eid is the culmination of a month-long fast, and this day is celebrated with joy, unity, and prayers for peace—both in our state and across the world.,” he said adding that education is necessity for all-rounder development and no religion teaches violence rather encourage peace and fraternity.
Apart from Gedu Mia Mosque, prayers were held at 15 mosques in and around Agartala. After the prayers, people embraced each other and exchanged Eid greetings, reinforcing the spirit of fraternity.
Muslims across Agartala celebrated the occasion by wearing new clothes, sharing festive meals, and spending time with family and friends. Many visited parks and amusement centers with their children, making the most of the joyous occasion.
Eid ul-Fitr, regarded as a reward after a month of fasting, serves as a reminder of compassion and generosity, with people offering prayers for prosperity and harmony across all communities.
