Agartala, March 31: In a major relief for patient attendants traveling from different parts of Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated a subsidized midday meal facility at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital, offering meals at just Rs 10 per person.
Saha, who also serves as the Health Minister, lauded the initiative, which has been introduced by the Health Department’s Rogi Kalyan Samiti in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Agartala. Initially, the service will cater to 100 individuals, with provisions for expansion based on demand.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to healthcare welfare, the Chief Minister also announced plans to set up night shelters at nominal rates for those needing overnight accommodation. He emphasized that budgetary provisions have already been made for this purpose.
During the launch event, Saha personally served meals to some beneficiaries, marking the commencement of the scheme in the presence of Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and officials from AGMC and GBP Hospital.
