Agartala: Mar 29: The CPI(M) Gomati District Committee organized a successful blood donation camp on Saturday at their party office in Udaipur, ahead of the upcoming 24th Central Conference of CPI(M). The camp saw participation from several prominent leaders, including former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) State Committee Secretariat member Ratan Bhowmik, Gomati District Secretary Parimal Debnath, and Udaipur Subdivision Secretary Dilip Dutta.
Manik Sarkar, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the vital importance of blood donation, noting that no scientific alternative to blood has yet been found. He stressed that blood donation transcends all social divisions, such as caste, and urged regular donations, with medical experts recommending up to three donations a year. Sarkar also encouraged people to consider body and eye donation as part of their civic duty.
Sarkar took the opportunity to criticize the obstacles faced by democratic organizations attempting to organize blood donation drives in the state over the last five years. He alleged that anti-social elements linked to the ruling party had hindered such efforts and expressed concern over attacks on blood donors in recent years.
The camp was marked by a strong turnout of donors, reflecting widespread community support for the cause and the significance of blood donation in saving lives. The event highlighted the CPI(M)’s commitment to social welfare and encouraged more people to actively participate in such initiatives.
