Agartala: Mar 27: The Ministry of Finance has approved a significant fund of ₹240.5 crore for urban planning and development in Tripura, aiming to boost infrastructure and public services across the state. This allocation will be used for various development projects in the 20 municipal councils and urban panchayats of Tripura. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha made the announcement today through a post on social media, highlighting the importance of these funds in improving urban living standards.
The projects funded by this grant will focus on multiple aspects of urban development. Key initiatives include the provision of clean drinking water, flood management measures, installation of CCTV cameras for enhanced security, and the development of urban Anganwadi centers to improve early childhood care and education. Additionally, the funds will be used for riverbank enhancements, which are expected to improve both the environmental conditions and the overall aesthetic appeal of the urban areas.
In his message, Chief Minister Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the Minister for Urban Development for their support in approving the funding. The approval reflects the central government’s commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure in the northeastern states, ensuring that essential services and developmental activities reach the people in urban areas.
This funding comes at a crucial time when urban centers in Tripura are witnessing increasing demands for better infrastructure and services to accommodate growing populations. With these projects, the state government aims to provide safer, cleaner, and more efficient urban spaces, fostering improved quality of life for the residents.
