Agartala: Mar 25: Based on a tip-off, two individuals were apprehended from the Jogendra Nagar Railway Station in the capital, Agartala, on Monday for possessing dry cannabis. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rupesh Kumar and Khushboo Devi. The operation was conducted by the police from the East Agartala Police Station, who collaborated with the College Tilla Police for the raid.
During the operation, a total of 36 kilograms of dry cannabis was seized from the possession of the two suspects. In addition to the drugs, the police also confiscated two mobile phones and ₹3,000 in cash from the arrested individuals. The authorities suspect that Rupesh Kumar and Khushboo Devi are part of a larger network involved in the illegal drug trade, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the operation.
The police have filed a case under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and have begun a detailed investigation to uncover the full extent of the drug trafficking operation. The authorities are actively working to track down additional suspects and dismantle the network responsible for trafficking drugs in the region.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb drug-related activities in Tripura, which have been a growing concern in recent years. The police are expected to continue their investigation and bring those involved in the illicit drug trade to justice.
