Agartala: Mar 25: During the third day of the budget session in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, addressed a question raised by CPM MLA Dipankar Sen regarding the availability of pharmacists in state hospitals.
The Chief Minister disclosed that the state currently employs 215 regular allopathy pharmacists and 192 fixed-salary pharmacists in various hospitals. He also highlighted that 190 pharmacists have been working in the same location for over five years, which prompted discussions on rotation and resource management.
While most health centers under the Health and Family Welfare Department are staffed with pharmacists, the Chief Minister acknowledged the existence of a few centers without them. Plans are in place to address this gap by appointing new pharmacists to ensure comprehensive healthcare access across the state.
