Agartala: Mar 25: During the third day of the budget session in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, MLA Shyamal Chakraborty raised a question about land pattas (leases), prompting Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma to provide details on the matter.
The Minister disclosed that under the Forest Rights Act, 630 tribal families in the state were granted land pattas during the 2023-24 financial year. He also announced plans for further allotments in the 2024-25 financial year, aiming to extend the benefits to more families.
To support those who have received forest land pattas under the 2006 Forest Rights Act, the government has introduced various schemes to promote financial prosperity. These initiatives include rubber plantations, bamboo plantations, fish farming, and livestock rearing, offering diverse opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
