Agartala: Mar 24: During the 2023-24 fiscal year in Tripura, 144 women were victims of rape in 140 reported cases, and 31 women lost their lives in 30 murder cases. This information was disclosed by Home Minister and Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha in the Tripura Legislative Assembly. The statement was made in response to a non-starred question posed by MLA Swapna Debbarma on the second day of the budget session.
Dr. Saha shared that 39 individuals have been arrested in connection with the 30 murder cases, with one accused convicted by the court. He also noted that six individuals are currently serving sentences for crimes related to murder and rape.
