Agartala: Mar 24: Over the past three years (2022–2024), the Tripura government has intensified its efforts against drug trafficking, seizing and destroying over 54 lakh grams of cannabis plants, 8 lakh kilograms of dried cannabis, and 8.5 lakh kilograms of cannabis seeds. This information was shared by Law Minister and Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha in a written response during the budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
Dr. Saha stated that between March 2023 and February 2025, 99 cases were registered under the NDPS Act and related laws. As part of these efforts, the police arrested 162 men and 79 women on charges related to cannabis trafficking. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to combating drug-related activities in the state.
