Agartala, March 21: Tripura’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday presented a ₹32,423.44 crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, with a deficit of ₹429.56 crore, but notably without introducing any new taxes.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Finance Secretary Apurba Roy and other officials, the Minister outlined key highlights of the budget, which places emphasis on capital expenditure, inclusive development, and women empowerment.
Key Budget Highlights:
State’s Own Tax Revenue: Projected at ₹4,010 crore.
State’s Own Non-Tax Revenue: Estimated at ₹504 crore.
Capital Expenditure: Set at ₹7,903 crore, a 19.14% increase from BE 2024-25, aimed at boosting economic growth.
Budget Size: Increased by ₹4,618.77 crore from last year’s ₹27,804.67 crore to ₹32,423.44 crore.
Sectoral Allocations:
Agriculture & Allied Sector: ₹1,885.42 crore (9.49% increase).
Education: ₹6,166.19 crore (11.94% increase).
Health: ₹1,948.69 crore (12.89% increase).
New Schemes & Initiatives:
Launch of ‘Mukhyamantri Sashya Shyamala Yojana’ to promote high-yielding crop varieties with an initial allocation of ₹5 crore.
The budget emphasizes economic expansion, welfare schemes, and infrastructure development, ensuring that no additional tax burden is placed on citizens.
