Agartala: Mar 18: The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFOBU) has called for a nationwide bank strike on March 24th and 25th, including in the state of Tripura. This announcement was made during a press conference at the Press Club, where Sanjay Dutta, the secretary of the organization, provided detailed information about the strike and the reasons behind it.
Dutta emphasized that the strike was being organized in response to various demands raised by bank employees, including issues related to wages, job security, and improved working conditions. He pointed out that despite repeated negotiations and discussions with the government and banking authorities, many of the employees’ concerns have yet to be addressed adequately. The bank unions have expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of these issues, particularly the privatization of public sector banks and the lack of a fair wage revision.
Furthermore, Dutta also highlighted the union’s call for a rollback of the proposed reforms that threaten the stability of public sector banks. The unions are concerned that these reforms could lead to job cuts and a decline in the quality of banking services for the common people.
In addition to the strike, Dutta announced that on March 21st, a large rally would be held in Agartala, starting at 5:00 PM. This rally aims to raise public awareness about the strike and the demands of bank employees. The protesters are expected to march through the city streets, with a strong message advocating for better treatment of bank workers and the protection of public sector banks.
The UFOBU is hopeful that their actions will draw attention to these critical issues and lead to a positive resolution for bank employees across the country.
