Agartala, March 17: A GST Superintendent was found dead under mysterious circumstances on a roadside in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district of Tripura, raising concerns over the cause of his demise.
The deceased has been identified as Hemanta Roy, who was serving as the GST Superintendent in Dharmanagar, a major business hub bordering Assam and Bangladesh.
His blood-soaked body was discovered near Kali Dighi, where locals initially tried to rush him to the hospital. However, a fire department vehicle arrived at the scene and transported him to Dharmanagar District Hospital, where Dr. Anup Goswami declared him brought dead.
When questioned about the cause of death, Dr. Goswami stated that Roy had severe head injuries, which could have led to fatal head trauma.
However, he emphasized that the exact cause will be determined only after a postmortem examination as it was found that bloody was coming out of his mouth and nose maybe due to road traffic accident.
Originally from Tarapur, Silchar in Assam, Roy’s sudden and mysterious death has prompted a police investigation.
Law enforcement officials have reached the hospital and are examining all possible angles to ascertain whether it was an accident or if foul play was involved.
