Agartala, March 15: Amid the ongoing Holi celebrations and the sacred month of Ramzan, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder visited the Agartala Integrated Checkpost to extend his greetings to the border security personnel of India and Bangladesh, along with business leaders engaged in trade between the two nations.
Accompanied by other dignitaries, Majumder, also the local MLA, reached the zero point of the border on Friday to meet with Border Security Force (BSF) troopers and their counterparts from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
He also interacted with business leaders from Akhaura, Bangladesh, exchanging Holi and Eid wishes while sharing sweets as a symbol of goodwill and camaraderie.
Speaking to reporters, Majumder emphasized the significance of such exchanges in strengthening Indo-Bangladesh ties.
“Keeping in mind the auspicious occasion of Holi and the holy month of Ramzan ahead of Eid, we came here to exchange greetings with the BSF and BGB personnel posted at the border. We also met the business community, as gestures like these further reinforce our bond with Bangladesh,” he said.
He also highlighted Tripura’s historic role in the liberation of Bangladesh and reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with its neighbor.
“On behalf of the people of Agartala, I extend my best wishes to the border guards of both nations,” he added, as he presented sweet packets and floral bouquets to the security personnel.
Tripura shares an 857-km-long border with Bangladesh, and the tradition of exchanging greetings and sweets during national festivals like Diwali, Eid, and Holi continues to foster warmth and friendship between the two nations.
