Agartala, March 14:Noted screenwriter Biplab Goswami, who recently won the Best Story (Original) Award in the Popular Category at the 25th IIFA Awards for the film Laapata Ladies, was felicitated by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha during a program at the Tripura Film & Television Institute (TFTI) at Nazrul Kalakshetra, Agartala, on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, CM Manik Saha highlighted Goswami’s achievement as an inspiration for aspiring filmmakers from Tripura. “With determination and hard work, people can achieve their dreams. Biplab, who hails from Tripura, is a living example of this,” Saha remarked.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the role of TFTI, established by the state government, in nurturing local talent for careers in the film and television industry.
Saha emphasized that the institute should not only achieve self-sufficiency but also emerge as a leading center of excellence in the region.
He expressed hope that industry professionals like Goswami would contribute to the growth of the institute and inspire young filmmakers.
Speaking at the event, Biplab Goswami noted that the global entertainment industry is expanding rapidly, and the presence of a film and television institute in Tripura marks a significant step forward.
“Offering vast opportunities beyond conventional fields like medicine, engineering, and accountancy, this initiative will open new career opportunities for the youth in filmmaking, scriptwriting, acting, and technical fields, which were not available in the state until a few years ago,” he said.
Goswami also highlighted the unexplored natural landscapes of Tripura, which he believes can serve as excellent film shooting locations, further boosting the state’s potential in the entertainment sector.
He added that Tripura holds a significant place in his life, and its influence is reflected in various aspects of his creative works.
The felicitation program marked a milestone in Tripura’s efforts to establish itself in the national and global film industry, offering local artists and filmmakers a platform to showcase their talent.
