Agartala: Mar 12: Today, in the Lok Sabha, Biplab Kumar Deb, Member of Parliament from Tripura, raised a concern with Union Minister for Mines G. Kishan Reddy regarding the auction system for mineral resources, highlighting its positive impact on states, particularly in terms of financial benefits and employment opportunities. Deb emphasized how the auction process has been a game-changer for the country, encouraging greater economic activity and providing significant revenue to both state governments and private sector companies.
In response, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy praised the reforms introduced by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government since coming to power. He highlighted that one of the most significant changes in the mineral resources sector has been the introduction of the auction system. According to Reddy, the system has benefited every state in the country, ensuring a fair and transparent method of allocating mineral resources, which has directly translated into financial gains for the states. The funds generated through these auctions are not only used by state governments but are also channeled into various sectors, thereby stimulating broader economic growth.
Furthermore, Reddy pointed out that the auction system, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, has generated an impressive ₹6 lakh crore in revenue for states across India. This revenue has not only bolstered state coffers but has also created numerous employment opportunities, particularly in the mining and associated industries. The increased efficiency and transparency in the allocation of mineral resources have resulted in a more robust mining sector, which contributes significantly to the country’s overall economic development.
This discussion underscores the BJP government’s focus on reforms in the mining sector and its commitment to fostering transparency, financial stability, and job creation through effective policy changes.
