Agartala: Mar 10: The state government’s plan to build a primary health center within the premises of the Fourteen Gods temple has sparked controversy, as the local community was not informed about the development. Former Tipra Motha chief and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarman raised concerns during a visit to the temple, stressing that any development work within the temple boundary should be communicated to the Tripura people to avoid misunderstandings. According to Debbarman, the Fourteen Gods temple holds deep cultural significance for the people of the state, and any changes within its premises should be handled with careful consideration to preserve tradition.
Debbarman revealed that a meeting was held today with MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Secretary Kiran Gitte, and other officials to address the issue. He emphasized that the discussion focused on resolving the misunderstandings surrounding the proposed health center. A follow-up meeting with the MLAs and community leaders, or Samajpatis, is scheduled in the coming weeks to further discuss the matter.
While Debbarman reiterated that the Fourteen Gods temple is a cherished symbol of tradition, he also highlighted the need for transparency in development activities. He emphasized that such initiatives should involve consultation with local communities to avoid any distortion of cultural and historical values. Without proper communication, misunderstandings could arise, and the people of Tripura must raise their voices together to safeguard their heritage.
Local MLA Ratan Chakraborty clarified that the state government intends to build the primary health center within the temple premises, but acknowledged that confusion had arisen due to the lack of prior information. He assured that efforts are underway to resolve the issues and clear up any misunderstandings between the government and the local community.
