AGARTALA: March 08. Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that without the development of people from all sections, development of Tripura is not possible.
The Chief Minister said this while addressing the celebration of the completion of two years of the present state government at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan.
“Our government has been working for the people. The present government is observing its second anniversary, and I thank all the people, Karyakartas, and government officials who are present here. I want to thank them. Due to the cooperation of all, we are celebrating two years of governance. This has been possible due to the faith and trust of the people in us and in PM Modi,” he said.
Dr. Saha said that the present state government is giving priority to development.
“Now, everywhere, there is a wave of development that was not seen earlier. PM Modi always speaks about development, and our present government is also working in this direction. PM Modi always says that without developing the Northeast, the development of India is not possible. He introduced the Act East Policy and gave us the HIRA model, and because of this, we are experiencing massive development,” said Dr. Saha.
He said that in terms of GDP percentage, Tripura has achieved a good position, infrastructure development is happening, law and order have significantly improved, and per capita income has increased significantly.
“These factors prove that Tripura is progressing towards development. In 2023-24, the GSDP also increased. We are working by following the directions of PM Modi. Development does not only mean building or construction but also includes the development of communication, human life, the economy, education, and law and order. Only then can we say that development has happened in Tripura. We want development in every corner of the state, and the Tripura government is working in the same direction to fulfill the vision of Vikshit Bharat,” said the Chief Minister.
He stated that in the last seven years, the government has solved many issues and implemented several flagship schemes of the Centre, which is why, Tripura has received appreciation from the Central Government.
“We are working transparently, and that is why we have started e-Office from the cabinet to the Panchayat level. We launched the Proti Ghore Susashan initiative, benefiting around 23 lakh people in various ways. We have also launched the Amaar Sarkar portal, and when I raised this during the CM conclave, many people, including PM Modi, appreciated our efforts,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is working for the welfare of women.
“Our government always prioritizes women’s welfare, and for that, we have launched Pink Toilets and introduced 33% reservation for women in government jobs. We have taken multiple steps and initiatives for women. For their protection, we have started nine women-run Women Police Stations and launched a helpline,” he said.
Dr. Saha informed that when the BJP formed the government, the social allowance, which was ₹700 during the CPIM rule, was increased to ₹2,000.
“In government jobs, we are providing employment and generating jobs with transparency. From the financial year 2018-19 to 2024-25, a total of 16,451 people were recruited in different departments, and over 5,000 were recruited through outsourcing and other means. The unemployment rate has significantly decreased. Our main aim is to ensure that all government schemes reach the people for their benefit,” he said.
He added that the ADB has provided Rs 1,400 crore to the state government for developing tribal areas.
“Without the development of people from all sections, the development of Tripura is not possible. We are working 24 hours for the people and addressing their problems,” he added.
During the event Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charana Noatia, MP Kriti Singh Debbarma, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Mayor Dipak Majumder, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan and Secretary PK Chakraborty were present.
