Agartala, March 6 :In a major success in the fight against drugs, Tripura Police arrested three drug traffickers and seized 1.6 lakh Yaba tablets worth around ₹5 crore in the black market during a raid in Agartala, a senior police official said on Thursday.
West Tripura district Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar informed that the raid was conducted in Mahishkhala Chandinnamura area, targeting the house of Md. Babul Miah. During the search, a massive cache of Yaba tablets was recovered.
Along with Md. Babul Miah, two others—Sipan Hussain (26) and Sanjay Miah (42)—were also arrested. A specific NDPS case has been registered against them, and they will be produced before the court, with the police seeking their remand for further interrogation to uncover others involved in the drug trade.
The raid was led by SDPO Sadar Deba Prasad Roy, along with officials from West Tripura Police Station as part of Tripura’s intensified anti-drug operations aimed at making the state drug-free.
