Agartala: Feb 27: On February 22nd, a daring robbery took place in Gobindapur, under the jurisdiction of Churaibari Police Station, where a group of armed robbers targeted the family of Sadhan Dev. The incident occurred around 3:15 am when the robbers, disguised as paramilitary personnel, forcefully entered the house of Sadhan Dev in Gobindapur Gram Panchayat’s ward number 3. The assailants, carrying two firearms, a scythe, and a sabre, with their faces covered in black cloth, threatened Sadhan and his son, Sagar Dev, at gunpoint.
The robbers stole approximately 73,000 taka in cash, gold jewelry, an Android phone, and other valuables before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving the news, a team from Churaibari Police Station, led by Dharmanagar Subdistrict Police Officer B. Zarin Puiya, along with Additional Superintendent of Police Jeremiah Darlong, Superintendent of Police IPS Avinash Rai, and Bagbasa MLA Jadavlal Nath, quickly arrived at the location. Fingerprint experts were called to assist in the investigation.
After four days of intense investigation, police arrested two suspects involved in the robbery—Kabil Hossain and Jamir Uddin. Both were taken into custody on Wednesday night, around 2 am. The police traced their mobile phone locations to the Gobindapur area at the time of the robbery. The suspects, who reside in Dakshin Kadamtala Gram Panchayat’s ward number 6, attempted to flee when they suspected a raid, but were apprehended by police after a brief chase.
Currently, the two arrested individuals are under interrogation at the Churaibari Police Station. However, the stolen money, jewelry, and weapons used in the robbery have not yet been recovered. The police plan to produce the suspects in the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court for police remand on Friday. Sub-Inspector Pritimoy Chakma is leading the investigation.
