Agartala, February 26: Maha Shivratri, one of the most revered Hindu festivals, is being celebrated with devotion across Tripura, with thousands of devotees offering prayers to Lord Shiva in temples.
In Agartala, worshippers thronged the Assam Rifles Shiv Mandir, one of the city’s oldest temples, from early Wednesday morning to perform special pujas with milk, ghee, honey, and incense sticks.
At midnight special rituals will be performed and will continue till Thursday morning, marking the sacred night of Shiva.
Other Shiva temples in the city also witnessed a massive influx of devotees.
Maha Shivratri, observed on the 14th day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Falgun, holds immense significance as it marks the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
The festival is believed to be an auspicious occasion where devotees seek blessings for prosperity, marital harmony, and spiritual upliftment.
Many temples and religious sites across Agartala were adorned with decorations, and special rituals like Rudrabhisheka and prasad distribution were organized.
Hindu devotees, including a large number of women, participated in fasting and special offerings of Bael (wood-apple) and its leaves to Lord Shiva.
People from all communities also joined the prayers, believing that Lord Shiva is easily pleased by devotion and grants blessings to those who sincerely worship him.
The Maha Shivratri celebrations in Tripura reflect deep faith and devotion, as thousands continue to throng temples, praying for their families’ well-being and seeking divine grace.
