Agartala, February 25: Reiterating its commitment to the core demand for a separate tribal state, the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of Tipra Motha, organized a massive bike rally across Tripura on Tuesday.
The event, held in every constituency, aimed to raise awareness and encourage participation in the first-ever YTF Plenary Session scheduled for February 27-28 in Agartala.
Hundreds of YTF members and leaders participated in the rally, emphasizing that the two-day plenary session will play a crucial role in determining the future course of the youth organization, which is expected to have a significant impact on Tipra Motha’s political trajectory.
Key issues on the agenda include the demand for Greater Tipraland, the implementation of the Tipra Accord, and the long-pending village council elections. The delay in holding these elections, despite court orders, remains a major concern for tribal communities in the state.
YTF central general secretary James Debbarma, who took part in the bike rally in Mandwai constituency, urged all YTF members to attend the plenary session.
Addressing concerns about Tipra Motha’s stance, he stated, “This bike rally is our reply to those who claim that we have deviated from our core demand. Our commitment to Greater Tipraland remains unwavering, and we will not compromise until it is achieved.”
He further clarified that while Tipra Motha is also focusing on development and a constitutional solution for the tribal population, this does not mean the party has shifted its priorities.
The plenary session will be attended by Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, party president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, along with ministers, MLAs, and MDCs.
Discussions are expected to highlight the delay in village committee elections—pending for over four years—and the implementation of the tripartite agreement signed with the Centre and the state government.
With the bike rally setting the stage for an important political gathering, all eyes are now on the YTF Plenary Session, where crucial decisions on the party’s roadmap are likely to be taken.
