Agartala: Feb 21: The reconstruction of the Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur, part of the Prasad project, is nearing completion, with plans for its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 7. A preparatory meeting was held at the Matabari office on Friday, attended by Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, Gomati District Magistrate, and other officials. Minister Roy confirmed that final preparations are underway and that various departments will complete their tasks by March 20.
In addition to the temple’s grand reopening, discussions around preserving its sanctity have gained attention. Minister Roy assured that certain areas around the temple would see the enforcement of vegetarian-only food policies to maintain its sacred atmosphere, addressing concerns about non-vegetarian food being prepared at nearby hotels and restaurants. The District Magistrate is currently assessing how far these regulations will extend.
The minister also responded to social media rumors about a color change to the temple, dismissing them as unfounded. He emphasized that no one could alter the temple’s appearance unless it was divinely intended. He criticized those spreading such claims, calling them atheists who likely had never visited the temple.
Roy also addressed past issues of anti-social activities on the temple premises, assuring that such behavior would not be tolerated in the future. With the increasing number of both domestic and international tourists visiting the site, the government is committed to ensuring the sanctity and safety of the Tripura Sundari temple and its surrounding areas, taking all necessary steps to protect its revered status.
